Harry Whisman

Roughnecked in the oil fields of OKlahoma, Texas and North Sea for about twelve years, then built cable television systems in Texas, Louisiana, Virginia, Ohio, Washington and Oregon until I retired on the Oregon coast about fifteen years ago. I took up commercial fishing and refereeing basketball to give myself something to do and while I am unable to do the fishing thing anymore, I still run with the kids on the basketball court.

Life has been good to me.

One funny thing I remember wasn’t so funny at the time...I played trumpet in the marching band and was partying hardy with some of my friends when I found myself running late to the football game. The worst part was I had left my trumpet at home!! No worries. My buddy Hans Krause just happened to have a trumpet I could borrow, so I grabbed the trumpet case and rushed off to the game where I just barely made it on time. Whew what a relief!!

Unfortunately however, when I opened up the case I discovered not a trumpet, but instead a World War II gas mask!
